Every stay at Lengishu helps to protect something far greater than a view. Through the conservation fees included in your visit, you directly support Borana Conservancy’s ranger teams, the frontline protectors of this incredible landscape.
Borana is home to over 125 male and female rangers. Their work is round-the-clock, often in remote and challenging conditions, tracking rhino, monitoring lion movements, patrolling fencelines, and keeping both wildlife and local communities safe. This past year, they’ve helped collar lions to help reduce incidents of human-wildlife conflict, supported rhino translocations to manage population pressure, and continued monitoring wildlife on foot and by vehicle.
The support from tourism is vital. In 2024, conservation fees from visitors across Borana Conservancy contributed over $1.2 million to core operational costs. These funds don’t just cover boots on the ground, they also help power the Borana Mobile Clinic, pay local teacher salaries, fund training ranger programmes, and keep the Conservancy’s network of solar-powered ranger posts and remote teams connected and supported.
At Lengishu, our guests often remark on the peace and stillness they find here. But that serenity is safeguarded every day by dedicated teams whose work is rarely seen. On World Ranger Day, we honour those who keep this land wild, and thank you, our guests, for being part of the story.
By choosing to stay at Lengishu, you’ve already made a difference.
